Halftone Madness

Category: Patterns
Type: Adobe Illustrator (.ai)

Rating: 6.3/10 (166 votes)

Description:
This is a selection of 8 Vector Halftone Patterns created in Illustrator. Use them for masks, grunge work, or vectorized halftone saturation. Whatever you come up with. CC License, Royalty Free.

Keep in mind they are symbols. So, when you open the file, you aren’t going to see anything on the artboard. However, if you open the .ai, and look in the symbols picker, you will see all eight of them. Alternatively, you can just drop them into your presets folder under symbols, and they will show up when you open a symbol library from within Illustrator

Go to the Window Menu and Select the Symbol window. You will find the Halftone Gradients.

This is a GREAT file! Very useful!

To Lance LeClaire: Press the letter ‘v’ on your keyboard and you can use the black arrow tool to re-size the image. Click on the object with the mouse and hold down shift while you drag it to make it smaller. I hope this helps. :o)

I downloaded this and placed it into the symbols preset folder as instructed, but when I try to use it, the tones cover my whole screen. How do I resize them to a more usable degree (I’m pretty new to Illustrator, so I’m sorry if this is a terribly simple question)?

truly its a hard work

Great vectors. Too bad people don’t read the description before they post, and instead go on to complain about the file. If that wasn’t the case, the rating would be much higher than 5.9

As others have commented here… downloaded the file and got a blank document (using Illustrator CS2), despite a hefty uncompressed file-size of 1.2 MB

AI in Illustrator CS3 is empty (empty layer).

Thanks, I use these every day.

Oh, derp! After reading the instructions and actually using the file correctly, I pronounce it awesome. Thanks.

Hey what’s up with the link?

lux said about 1 year ago at 07:50PM

Not working in CS1 on WinXP. Got a "created in newer version" alert when opening, artboard is full of outlined text "…saved without PDF content…", and nothing is in my Symbols palette.

READ THE DIRECTIONS PEOPLE!

"Keep in mind they are symbols. So, when you open the file, you aren’t going to see anything on the artboard. However, if you open the .ai, and look in the symbols picker, you will see all eight of them."

It’s not rocket science!

I was so excited to see someone had done half-tones, except I still have Illustrator CS. Is it possible to save this file down so I can open it in Illustrator CS?

nathan said about 1 year ago at 06:31PM

awesome! so simple, but i can use it for so many things, just to add a "design twist". thanks!

The AI-File has an empty workspace…

Downloaded a 493kb zip file, unzipped to a 1.3 meg .ai file, but there’s nothing in it when I open it. I’m using Illustrator CS2 in Windows 2000.
